Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Cauliflower prefers nearly neutral soils rich in organic matter. Water moderately and evenly. Cauliflower can be sensitive to boron deficiencies. Lime the soil to a pH of 7.0 or higher in areas with clubroot problems.

Planting & Growing: To ensure plump heads, time indoor sowing so that plants are no more than 5 weeks old at transplant time. Sow outdoors when soil temperatures are at least 60°F. While cauliflower requires growing conditions similar to broccoli and cabbage, it can be more difficult to grow. Any interruption in growth due to underwatering or underfertilization can cause the plant to prematurely set a small, unusable head.

Harvesting & Storage: To improve flavor and color, blanch developing heads by folding and securing a few leaves over the head. Harvest while heads are tight and compact, 4-14 days after tying up the leaves.

Tasty and reliable

I have grown Peaceful Valley Snowball Cauliflower in the past and found it to be more reliable given my climate restrictions, than other types. I am looking forward to growing it again this year.

Great germination!

First growing season trying groworganic.com seeds. Purchased these cauliflower seeds (and other seeds; broccoli, squash, tomatoes) on Jan 8, 2020. Started them indoors 9 days ago in cardboard egg cartoons. I generally put 2 seeds in each pod because often only 1 germinates, or 1 of the 2 is unhealthy and gets plucked. Not with these seeds; after 9 days, I am having to separate them early as over 90% germination rate and all the seedlings look health! And this is after I planted the seeds and practically dropped the egg container and some seeds got buried deep, and others right on top after that, and the broccoli and cauliflower seeds got mixed together; so I wasn't expecting great results. Seedlings look healthy! If this review lets me come back and update it 60 days, I'll report back after they are transplanted outside and hopefully I'm eating cauliflower. I am in hardiness zone 5.

Worked in hydroponics!

I tried these on 4 hydroponic rafts last fall & actually worked great! My Greenhouse is year-round, so these really slowed down in short winter days, but good until November & the leaves were beautiful. I roasted many in oven with olive oil, sea salt & pepper! Ordering seeds now for this fall ..,
