More U.S. gardeners will be planting vegetables this spring, a boom that started in 2009 and increases each year. The recent USDA approval of genetically modified (GM) alfalfa fanned public anxiety about genetically modified food, and increased gardeners’ desire for complete information about the source of the vegetable seeds they plant. Here at Peaceful Valley Farm & Garden Supply we signed the Safe Seed Pledge, confirming we will NOT knowingly sell genetically modified (GM) seeds to farmers and home gardeners. The Safe Seed Pledge was created by the Council for Responsible Genetics, which maintains a Safe Seed Sourcebook.
