Then compare products by nutrient analysis, release pattern, application method, and crop suitability. “Organic” should refer to documented product status, while “natural” is a broader description and is not a certification.

Begin with the crop, its growth stage, recent management, and visible symptoms. Irrigation problems, damaged roots, cool soil, high or low pH, and excess fertilizer can resemble a nutrient deficiency. For persistent problems or corrective applications, use a soil test rather than relying on leaf color alone.
2. Read the guaranteed analysis
The three prominent numbers on most fertilizer labels state the percentages of nitrogen, available phosphate, and soluble potash. Secondary nutrients and micronutrients may appear elsewhere in the guaranteed analysis. Compare those values with the nutrient need instead of treating a higher analysis as automatically better.
3. Compare release pattern and application method
Granular and pelleted products are convenient for soil incorporation or top-dressing. Liquid and water-soluble products can provide nutrients through watering or fertigation, but they require accurate dilution and compatible equipment. Release speed also depends on formulation, soil temperature, moisture, and biological activity.
4. Distinguish organic status from broad marketing language
“Organic” should be supported by documentation applicable to the specific product and package size. “Natural” is broader and is not the same as certified for organic production. Review the current product page, label, and certifier information rather than assuming all sizes or related products share the same status.
5. Apply the labeled rate
More fertilizer does not produce proportionally more growth. Excess nitrogen can create weak growth, while unnecessary phosphorus or salts can accumulate in soil. Measure the treated area, calibrate application equipment, and follow the current label.
