Cottonseed Meal (50 lb)
Good for Acid-Loving Plants
Cottonseed Meal – Slow-Release, Nutrient-Rich Soil Amendment
Cottonseed meal is a trusted, slow-release fertilizer with a typical N-P-K analysis of 5-2-1. Ideal for acid-loving plants such as azaleas, rhododendrons, blueberries, strawberries, potatoes, and roses, it also helps lower soil pH, improving nutrient uptake in alkaline soils.
A byproduct of the cotton industry, cottonseed meal is made from the remnants of cottonseed after oil extraction. It’s rich in organic matter, which enhances soil structure, water retention, and supports the growth of beneficial microbes critical for long-term soil health.
Additional Benefits:
- Weed Suppression: When used as mulch or incorporated into soil, it may inhibit weed growth by depriving seeds of light and nutrients.
- Compost Booster: Add it to compost piles to enrich nutrient content and accelerate microbial activity.
Usage:
Apply at 10 lbs per 100 square feet or 1500–3000 lbs per acre. Cottonseed meal is available in 50 lbs bags. Suitable for:
- Vegetable gardens (e.g., tomatoes, peppers, beans)
- Flower beds and ornamentals
- Trees, shrubs, and acid-loving plants
- Compost piles and soil conditioning
Note: While we continue to search for an organic source, our cottonseed meal for sale is currently from conventional cottonseed, which may include GMO material.
Bulk Orders: For pallet pricing, please inquire for current rates.

Almost all cotton grown commercially is GMO and had round-up used on it. I can get this same product for under $25 from local feed stores. Why charge organic prices for a GMO product?
this is an excellent product and is great for your j. maples, azaleas, etc., if they're a fair distance from your fruit and vegetables.
This meal is from GMO cotton, so it has no place in an organic garden.
