Passionflower Seeds (Organic)
Provide Stong Support
Passionflower seeds are a beautiful and beneficial choice for gardeners interested in ornamental vines, pollinator support, and herbal remedies. This vigorous perennial climber produces intricate purple-and-white blooms that appear in mid to late summer, creating a stunning display while attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Native to the southeastern United States, passionflower thrives in temperate climates and is well-suited for trellises, fences, or naturalized garden edges.
The plant prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soils with moderate fertility. Once established, it can reach 10–20 feet in a season and may spread through underground runners. Passionflower has been traditionally used in herbal medicine for its calming properties, with the leaves and flowers commonly dried for use in teas or tinctures. Though fruiting is more likely in warm regions, the blooms alone offer significant ornamental and ecological value.
Whether you’re designing a pollinator-friendly landscape, growing medicinal herbs, or adding vertical interest to your garden, passionflower is a rewarding and low-maintenance addition. Sow seeds in early spring after cold stratification and light scarification to improve germination. Plants bloom in their second year and return reliably in USDA Zones 6–10.
