Planting & Care
- Fall-planted spuds produce outstanding yields by May. If your area experiences hard winters (USDA Zones 1–7), or you tend to have long, wet spring seasons when rot might be a problem, plant potatoes in the spring.
- One pound of seed potatoes will plant a row approximately 8' long with seed pieces spaced at 8 - 12" apart.
- Plan on 1,200 lb/acre (600 lb of fingerlings) when rows are spaced 36" apart with 12" between plants.
- Under optimal conditions, you can expect to harvest 10–15 pounds of potatoes for every pound of seed potato planted.

We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, bare-root trees, vegetable crowns, etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as ""Perishable"" immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.

I purchased several different potato varieties and they are coming up with gusto!
I felt like there was a nice mix of 4-5 varieties of reds and yellow and even a couple purple which I was really excited about. I sorted them by color and all coming up. The purple even have purple/green leaves. Lots of fun.
Every one of them (even the ones I split) sprouted and are growing really well. Some of them are huge plants by now (~2 months in). Half of them I planted directly and half of them I put in a bag with an Apple so I could kick start it. It didn't matter - all of them sprouted. I'll update my review / write another one after my harvest.
I received these potatoes a couple of weeks ago & a few green leaves have already begun to sprout from the cuttings. It’s so exciting to watch a few more poke through the dirt each day. I’m looking forward to harvest time!
Received in good condition, no eyes on potatoes. Put apple in bag in dark place to sprout eyes. All were fine except 1 of the purple potatoes started to rot and die.
