Planting & Care
Planting & Care
- Fall-planted spuds produce outstanding yields by May. If your area experiences hard winters (USDA Zones 1–7), or you tend to have long, wet spring seasons when rot might be a problem, plant potatoes in the spring.
- One pound of seed potatoes will plant a row approximately 8' long with seed pieces spaced at 8 - 12" apart.
- Plan on 1,200 lb/acre (600 lb of fingerlings) when rows are spaced 36" apart with 12" between plants.
- Under optimal conditions, you can expect to harvest 10–15 pounds of potatoes for every pound of seed potato planted.

These grew great in my potato grow bags. Fairly prolific growers that taste delicious!
They grow great, and I keep replanting over and over again!
I ordered these at the end of January, hoping they would arrive soon. I live in the SW desert and we have to get potatoes planted in late December or in January, so that they have a chance to grow pretty well before it gets horrendously hot. They came pretty quick, but were dormant. I did all the tricks to get them to chit, which took 2.5-3 weeks. And then, when I was ready to actually plant, we had some hard freezes. Well, that last bit is over, it's almost 70F outside, and at least a week until the next frost, which will probably be light. None of the potatoes had fungus, despite being inside for much longer than they should have been. They're planted now in grow bags, so I can control their environment better. I'll update this review when they actually start growing, and when I get a harvest.
We love these potatoes!
Purchased these in mid. January. still dormant, as they should be. Bought them along with all reds and Organic Magic Molly. Each variety was bagged separately and labeled to avoid confusion. Potatoes arrived in good condition. If I can get these to survive in Arizona summers I will definitely be back for more.

I bought these seeds to go in bundles of packets of vegetable seeds that I will put in the Blessing Box at a church here in town about late January so people who need to can supplement the groceries they buy with a garden. I'm sure they will love them. If my budget stretches that far, I will get some for myself and let you know how I like them. I still have eight bundles worth of packets of seeds to purchase for them first, though.
Appreciate that you have this in bulk quantities. We use this as a rooting hormone and as a potting mix and soil supplement. Kelp meal is rich in minerals and micro-nutrients and contains growth hormones that support healthy root growth.
Helps me keep the ants down on my property. Place outside and keeps ants down even in your house.
I grow flats of this for my pet pigs, because of the high nutritional content. They love it. I find them waiting at the growing location every afternoon waiting for their fave. I've grown beautiful flats of pea sprouts and alfalfa for them too, but they turn up their snouts and walk away.
Top notch fertilizer and great store
