Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Corn is a heavy feeder requiring high amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK). Its weak and shallow root system likes loose soil with a high compost content.

Planting & Growing: Sow seeds directly when soil has warmed and all danger of frost has passed. You can start earlier by using plastic mulches and floating row covers to obtain optimum conditions. Plant in blocks rather than rows to ensure good germination. Space rows 24-30" apart. To prevent cross-pollination, plant different varieties at least 500' apart.

Harvesting & Storage: Ripe corn usually has a small amount of green silk nearest the ear with dry, brownish silk at the ends. Pick in the morning when sugar content is the highest.

75% germination

Excited to try this corn this year, planted a couple rows. The corn came up strong in some areas and was a bit slow to pop up. Roughly 25-30% did not come up, what is up is growing quite well and is impressive.
