Progress #9 Pea Seeds (Organic)

Progress #9 Pea Seeds (Organic)

Early harvest, sweet peas.

Progress #9 Pea is a highly reliable shelling pea variety that combines early maturity with sweet, flavorful peas. Compact and efficient, the plants grow to just 18 inches tall, making them an excellent choice for small gardens, raised beds, or containers. This variety matures in just 55-60 days, providing one of the earliest pea harvests of the season. The pods are large and easy to shell, each containing 7-9 plump, bright green peas that are perfect for fresh eating, steaming, or adding to soups and casseroles. Progress #9 Peas also freeze exceptionally well, retaining their sweet flavor and tender texture for use in later months. Thriving in full sun and loose, well-draining soil, this variety is cold-tolerant and performs well in both spring and fall gardens. Its resistance to common pea diseases ensures healthy growth and bountiful harvests. Regular harvesting encourages prolonged production, giving gardeners weeks of fresh, delicious peas to enjoy. Whether you’re growing them for their fresh sweetness or for preserving, Progress #9 Peas are a dependable, high-yielding variety that belongs in every vegetable garden.

Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Peas are not particular about soil, but prefer those with plenty of added organic matter and a pH of 5.5-6.8. Provide moderate water until bloom, then lower the water rate.

Planting & Growing: Peas perform best in cool weather between 60-75F; growing season may be extended using shade cloth or frost fabrics. Presoak seeds to help prevent disease and to speed germination. Progress #9 is wilt resistant. Its dwarf vines require no staking.

Harvesting & Storage: Peas are usually ready for harvest about 3 weeks after the flower appears and before peas are fully developed in the pods. Regular picking extends production.
