Mignonette Alpine Strawberry Seeds
Ornamental Mini-Berries All Season
Mignonette Alpine Strawberry seeds offer a flavorful and ornamental option for home gardeners and small-scale growers. This exclusive French delicacy is an improved variety of compact, easy-to-grow perennial plants with dainty foliage that produces sweet, pointed berries to savor all summer long. Unlike standard strawberries, alpine types do not send out runners, making them ideal for small gardens, borders, or containers.
Plants thrive in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil, with steady moisture to encourage continuous fruiting from summer through fall. Their tidy, clumping growth habit and delicate white flowers also make them an attractive addition to edible landscapes. Mignonette strawberries are everbearing and begin fruiting the first year when started early indoors. Though small in size, the berries deliver exceptional aroma and taste that gourmet chefs and gardeners alike treasure.
Whether you're planting a kitchen garden, enhancing pollinator habitats, or cultivating fruit in tight spaces, Mignonette Alpine Strawberries provide a productive, flavorful, and visually appealing solution. Start seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors after danger of frost has passed. These low-maintenance plants are well-suited for organic growing systems and permaculture gardens.

Cute berries, tasty but perhaps underwhelming due to size and fragility.
For an Alpine berry, I prefer the yellow Pineapple variety also produced by Renee’s.
Fruited starting the first year.
No growth or signs of being viable seeds in 4-5 weeks.
After buying a big national brand of Alpine Strawberry seeds and having a germination rate of less than 10% I tried these. Wow what a difference about a 95% or higher germination rate . It appears these seeds are "stratified" prior to packaging. Stratification is required of many seeds and alpine strawberries are one. How do you stratify seeds? Freeze them for 2-4 weeks! I did not know this until I tried to determine why I was having trouble sprouting them. I now have 9 types growing from seeds but the two best at germination are the Renee's Mignonette and Pineapple. Very slow to start but in a few weeks they will be up and growing.
I have now planted 10 different Alpine strawberries. These seeds and the Pineapple have averaged 80% germination. I have some types with only a 20% rate. These are excellent seeds!
