Planting & Care
Planting:
Starting Seedlings Outdoors
Melons need full sun, rich soil and warm temperatures. Plant only when weather is warm and night temperatures stay above 50°F. Make slightly rounded hills 2' in diameter and 5' apart. Sow 5 - 6 seeds 1" deep in a small circle in top of each hill. When seedlings have several sets of leaves, be sure to thin to the 3 strongest plants in each hill.
Start Early Indoors
No more than several weeks before the last frost, sow seeds in individual pots of seed starting mix. Keep warm and moist, and provide a strong light source until weather warms enough to transplant outdoors.
Growing: Amend soil with aged manure or compost. If summers are short or cool, put down black plastic to retain heat, then plant into holes made in plastic. Where insects are a problem, cover seedlings with floating row covers to exclude them, removing when plants blossom. Keep young vines well watered and fed, tapering off as fruits ripen up for best sweet flavor.
Harvest & Use: Pick melons when the tendril closest to the fruit turns brown, and the light patch on the bottom of the melon changes from cream to tan. These small fruitful watermelons keep well in the refrigerator, even after being cut open. You can cut juicy wedges of all 3 colors for summer parties and picnics.

I recently ordered the seeds. Got them planted and they are all popping up look very healthy. Can't wait to try
I received these seeds as a gift a few years ago and finally planted them last summer. We got the most beautiful, delicious little (~8” in diameter) watermelons in delightful sherbet hues. I can honestly say these were the best tasting watermelons I’ve ever had. Sweet and rich, almost fragrant. We didn’t do anything special, just threw some seeds in our raised bed. Can’t wait to try these seeds again!
i tried already once to plant a batch of these (from this exact packet) weeks ago and for some reason none of them began to sprout — but it was quite rainy and i think they may have just gotten lost under the soil! i just planted four more last night in a container that i am starting indoors (: the watermelons look so beautiful on the packet and i am really really excited to grow them and see the various colors of fruit!

from 9167 reviewsWorking great
I bought these seeds to go in bundles of packets of vegetable seeds that I will put in the Blessing Box at a church here in town about late January so people who need to can supplement the groceries they buy with a garden. I'm sure they will love them. If my budget stretches that far, I will get some for myself and let you know how I like them. I still have eight bundles worth of packets of seeds to purchase for them first, though.
Appreciate that you have this in bulk quantities. We use this as a rooting hormone and as a potting mix and soil supplement. Kelp meal is rich in minerals and micro-nutrients and contains growth hormones that support healthy root growth.
Helps me keep the ants down on my property. Place outside and keeps ants down even in your house.
I grow flats of this for my pet pigs, because of the high nutritional content. They love it. I find them waiting at the growing location every afternoon waiting for their fave. I've grown beautiful flats of pea sprouts and alfalfa for them too, but they turn up their snouts and walk away.
