Zinger Herbal Tea Hibiscus Seeds

Make a Blush of Tea

Zinger Herbal Tea Hibiscus is a vibrant and functional addition to any home garden or small farm, offering both ornamental beauty and a valuable herbal harvest. Known for its tart, cranberry-like flavor, this tropical annual produces bright red calyces after flowering, which are traditionally brewed into hibiscus tea—a refreshing beverage rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. With its upright habit, lush foliage, and pale yellow blooms with deep red centers, Zinger Hibiscus makes a bold statement in the garden while supporting pollinator activity.

This warm-season crop thrives in full sun and well-drained, fertile soils, especially in regions with long, hot summers. Plants reach 4–6 feet tall and require ample space for branching. Sow seeds indoors in early spring or directly once soil temperatures rise. Harvest calyces approximately three weeks after flowers fade, when they are plump and tender. In addition to tea, the calyces can be used in jams, syrups, and sauces, making this plant a favorite for gardeners who value both aesthetics and utility.

Whether you're cultivating a medicinal herb patch, expanding your edible landscape, or creating a garden rich in biodiversity, Zinger Hibiscus offers beauty, nutrition, and versatility. Pair with other herbal teas and pollinator-friendly crops for a thriving, healthy garden ecosystem.

Planting & Care

Soil & Water:Hibiscus thrive in sunny, very warm areas in rich and well-drained soil, add add aged manure or compost to the bed. Seedlings should be kept moist, but not soggy.

Planting & Growing: Indoors sow seeds 1/2 inch deep and 1 inch apart in seed starting mix. Keep very warm and moist with a strong light source until ready to transplant outdoors. When 2 inches tall, transplant individual seedlings to 4 inch pots. Maintain 65-70 degree temperature. Feed with half strength liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks. Gradually acclimate to outdoors. Transplant seedlings 8-12 inches apart. Pinch tops when 10 inches tall to encourage bushy form. If container grown, choose pots 18 inches in diameter and depth.

Harvesting & Storage:After flowers finish blooming, harvest the calyx at the base of the blossom. Snap off calyxes and dry in a single layer.
