Tree Growing Containers - Deepot Cells

For Hardwood Tree Starts

Deepot Cells are a durable and efficient choice for growing deep-rooted seedlings, hardwoods, and young trees. Their extended depth supports stronger root development, guiding roots straight down to prevent circling and improve transplant success. Ideal for orchards, reforestation projects, and home gardens, these containers help ensure healthy plant establishment from the start.

Deepots are used for a wide range of hardwood and other tree seedlings, making them an excellent choice for plant material requiring a deeper root ball. They also provide the flexibility to spread seedlings out for optimal growth or consolidate them for sorting and maximizing space efficiency. Made from high-density polypropylene for long-lasting performance, these cells are designed to be reused season after season. Use with the Deepot Support Trays for best results.

The slightly tapered design and eight interior vertical ribs encourage strong root architecture while making seedlings easier to remove with minimal transplant shock. Suitable for organic and sustainable growing, Deepot Cells provide excellent aeration, drainage, and nutrient flow to the root zone. Great sprout-difficult transplant

I bought to spout black walnuts. The diameter is too small for the large nut in my opinion, however the tap root grew to about 9” about 10 days after the radical (tap root) first emerged. The problem is the tap root followed the outer edge of the pot. Transplanting after about 2 weeks was very difficult as the soil wanted to fall away on the bottom as well. Also the bottom hole is so big the soil falls out. This size may work better for smaller nuts or carrots, etc What we really need is a 12” tall decomposing pot that eliminates the transplant stress.
