Catalina Baby Leaf Spinach Seeds
Bolt Resistant Long Harvest Spinach
This fast-maturing baby leaf spinach variety produces tender, flat, deep green oval leaves with a delicate, mild flavor perfect for fresh salads, smoothies, or light cooking. ‘Catalina’ is a hybrid developed for outstanding performance, offering rapid growth, impressive heat tolerance, and strong resistance to common spinach diseases, making it a reliable choice for home gardeners and small-scale growers alike.
Ideal for continuous harvesting, this spinach thrives in cool to mild conditions but maintains quality and flavor even as temperatures rise. Its compact, upright growth habit allows for dense plantings, maximizing yield in small garden beds, raised planters, or containers. For the best results, sow successively every 2–3 weeks during the growing season to ensure a steady supply of fresh leaves. Harvest young for the most tender texture and sweetest flavor, or allow leaves to reach full size for cooking.
‘Catalina’ performs well in a range of soil types, especially those enriched with organic matter and kept consistently moist. Whether grown for fresh market sales, CSA shares, or home kitchen use, its uniform size and attractive leaf shape make it a standout in any harvest.

Soil & Water:Plant seed in weel worked fertile soil in full sun after danger of hard frost is over. Keep well weeded and watered. Fertilize several times with hydrolyzed fish for best harvest.
Planting & Growing:Space seed 1 inch apart in rows 8-10 inches apart or broadcast thinly for bed planting. Firm soil well over seed to ensure germination. Resow if first germination is uneven. After seedlings reach 2-3 inches, thin out every other plant and keep thinning until plants are 5-6 inches apart.
Harvesting & Storage:Use thinnings for salads. Harvest either by cutting entire plant 1 inch above base once plant is 4-5 inches tall or wait until plants are well established and harvest outer leaves only so plant will continue to grow.
