French Gold Filet Pole Bean Seeds
Rare French Yellow Haricots
French Gold pole beans are elegant, slim yellow filet beans prized for their sweet, delicate flavor and crisp snap. Originally bred in France, these “haricot verts” grow on vigorous climbing vines, producing abundant 7" to 9" pods that add both flavor and beauty to the garden. Their tender texture and vibrant color make them a standout choice for fresh eating, steaming, or adding to gourmet dishes and colorful summer salads.
These beans thrive in warm, sunny locations with fertile, well-draining soil. Plant seeds after the last frost once the soil has warmed, providing sturdy supports such as poles or trellises to encourage upward growth and promote airflow. Consistent watering and regular harvesting will stimulate continual pod production throughout the season, ensuring an extended and productive harvest window. The pods maintain excellent quality even as the plants continue producing, making them ideal for home gardeners and small-scale market growers.
French Gold beans are best enjoyed fresh but can also be blanched and frozen to preserve their sweetness for off-season use. Their vibrant golden color and exceptional flavor make them a gourmet addition to the kitchen and a reliable producer in the garden.

Planting & Care
Planting & Care
Planting: In late Spring, once night temperatures stay securely above 55°F, plant seeds in well-worked, fertile soil in full sun. Erect strong stakes, tripod poles or trellis at planting time to support vines. Plant 1" deep and 4" apart along a trellis; around tripods or stakes, plant 4 - 6 seeds about 4" from each pole, thinning seedlings to 3 best plants per pole.
Growing: Beans are an easy and reliable crop, but don't plant seeds too early; cold conditions prevent good germination. If first sowing comes up unevenly, replant right away; new seedlings will catch up quickly. Birds are attracted to young seedlings; watch carefully and protect with netting if necessary. Avoid harvesting beans in wet conditions.
Harvest & Use:For the best yields, pick beans frequently—at least every 2 or 3 days. Filet beans are meant to be eaten when pods are long and slender, so harvest the tender pods early, when they are still pencil-thin. These elegant gourmet beans taste best freshly harvested and quickly steamed or sautéed. When blanched and tossed in an herbed vinaigrette with salad greens and fresh herbs like Italian parsley, basil or a little fresh thyme, French Gold beans make a beautiful and delicious salad.

These are absolutely the best tasting gold beans. They are very prolific as well!
We had not grown wax beans prior to this year. My grandma always had some and even dill pickled them when I was younger. These turned out to be prolific and tasty. We will grow these again!
I grew these last year and they are my go to yellow bean. Best tasting yellow bean that I have ever grown.
