Carrots Love Tomatoes
The Secrets of Companion Planting Revealed!
This classic companion planting guide by Louise Riotte has helped generations of gardeners maximize yields and create healthier, more resilient gardens. Packed with practical advice, Carrots Love Tomatoes explains how to pair plants for mutual benefit, from vegetables and flowers to fruit trees and shrubs. You’ll learn which combinations encourage growth, improve flavor, and deter pests, as well as which plants to keep apart to prevent competition or disease.
The book covers a wide range of strategies, including interplanting flowers with vegetables to attract pollinators, using natural plant partnerships to suppress weeds, and incorporating species that repel harmful insects or minimize disease spread. Beyond the vegetable patch, Riotte also shares insights on integrating nut and fruit trees with compatible underplantings, as well as ornamental shrubs that contribute to a balanced, thriving landscape.
Written in an approachable style, this resource is perfect for both home gardeners and small-scale growers interested in organic and sustainable practices. The companion planting charts and examples make it easy to plan a productive, diverse garden that works with nature’s rhythms instead of against them.

I have heard of companion planting but never knew how to do it. I am very excited to try it this year and see the results.
Great Idea
Is a wonderful guide to companion planting of vegetables, herbs, fruit trees and more. Learn what plants promote better growth and higher yields of one another. As well as plants that repel insects and pests. You will also learn what plants don’t like to be near one another. The first half of the book is a good read but mostly great for referencing. The second part has sections of information on improving your soil, natural pest control and several examples of different garden plans, etc.
