Use a well-drained seed-starting medium, provide strong light after emergence, and transplant only after frost risk has passed. Check soil moisture at root depth and water according to conditions rather than a fixed calendar. Preserve the recorded spacing so foliage can develop and air can move through the planting. Harvest stage can influence color, texture, and heat.

By understanding its characteristics, cultivation techniques, and cultural significance, you embark on a journey that celebrates the unique flavors and traditions associated with this beloved chili pepper.

Before sowing Chimayó Chili, review the packet alongside the current product details and note any range in temperature, germination, or maturity. Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Peppers require deeply-worked, well-drained soil with plenty of added organic matter and a pH of 6.0-6.8. Water deeply, but don't over water.

Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 8 weeks before the last frost. Direct seeding is not recommended. Stake to keep fruit off the ground and mulch for disease and weed control. Blossom pruning will improve fruit size.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest the first fruits early to encourage continued production through the season. Cut (don't pull) the fruit from the stems. These peppers may be harvested from the green stage through the color changes. Cal Wonder freezes well.
