Planting & Care
Planting & Care
- Fall-planted spuds produce outstanding yields by May. If your area experiences hard winters (USDA Zones 1–7), or you tend to have long, wet spring seasons when rot might be a problem, plant potatoes in the spring.
- One pound of seed potatoes will plant a row approximately 8' long with seed pieces spaced at 8 - 12" apart.
- Plan on 1,200 lb/acre (600 lb of fingerlings) when rows are spaced 36" apart with 12" between plants.
- Under optimal conditions, you can expect to harvest 10–15 pounds of potatoes for every pound of seed potato planted.

We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, bare-root trees, vegetable crowns, etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as ""Perishable"" immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.

Great tasting potato and got a pretty good yield on each plant I had. Nice looking purple flesh on the potato and the plant has purple veins on the stalk and leaves giving a great looking plant in your garden.
Seed Potatoes arrived in good shape...When I can pick out my own, I prefer to plant whole small potatoes, but to get more seed, I cut these into pieces. I planted after letting them dry for a few days, and within a week they had poked through and are all growing like gangbusters! As you never know about sprouting, rot & such when you cut potato seed, I'm super happy with these vigorous plants.
Within 3 weeks they sprouted multiple eyes and was able to cut 4-5 pieces of each potato.
Cold Zone 5. I planted these May 8th in fabric grow bags but definitely could have done done a week or 3 earlier. Was just being lazy. But they still grew nice. Just harvested some now in mid-August. Probably could do earlier but also still have some bags healthy and still growing. Very nice looking potato that created many mid-size potatoes. Easy size to just cut in half and roast.. Did not cook any yet.
These potatoes are so delicious and so easy to grow. They did well in my Zone 10b climate. I grew them in containers, and they were ready to harvest in around 4 months or so. Remember to water well and fertilize; this will help produce better yields!
