The Garden Combination Mix Inoculant is a peat-based product containing live cultures of nitrogen-fixing Rhizobium bacteria. This inoculant is designed to treat various legumes, including garden beans, peas, soybeans, and lentils. By applying this inoculant, gardeners can enhance nitrogen fixation in the soil, promoting healthier plant growth and improved yields.
Key Features and Benefits:
- Nitrogen Fixation:
- The primary function of the inoculant is to facilitate nitrogen fixation. Rhizobium bacteria form symbiotic relationships with legume roots, converting atmospheric nitrogen into a form plants can use. This process enriches the soil with nitrogen, reducing the need for synthetic fertilizers.
- Wide Compatibility:
- This product is compatible with numerous legumes such as fava beans, bell beans, peas, lentils, lima beans, cowpeas, black-eyed peas, soybeans, and more. It also works with various cover crops like vetch (excluding crown vetch) and lespedeza, enhancing soil fertility and structure.
- Ease of Use:
- The application process is straightforward. Seeds are first dampened with non-chlorinated water, then coated with the inoculant. After a brief drying period, seeds can be planted immediately. This simplicity makes it accessible for both novice and experienced gardeners.
- Organic Certification:
- The inoculant is approved for use in certified organic agriculture by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) and the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). This ensures that it meets stringent organic farming standards.
Application Instructions:
- Preparation:
- Dampen the seeds with non-chlorinated, clean, cool water to ensure the inoculant adheres effectively.
- Coating:
- Add enough inoculant to the damp seeds to coat them uniformly. This step can be dusty, so wearing a dust mask is recommended for safety.
- Drying and Planting:
- Allow the coated seeds to dry for 1-3 minutes before planting them as soon as possible to ensure the bacteria remain active.
Storage and Handling:
- The product should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally between 40 and 77°F. Proper storage is crucial to maintain the viability of the live bacteria cultures.
Advantages of Using Inoculants:
- Improved Soil Health:
- By fostering nitrogen fixation, inoculants help build soil fertility over time, reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers and enhancing the sustainability of gardening practices.
- Enhanced Plant Growth:
- Plants benefit from readily available nitrogen, leading to robust growth, better resistance to diseases, and higher yields.
- Environmental Benefits:
- Using inoculants supports eco-friendly gardening by minimizing the environmental impact of synthetic fertilizers and promoting natural soil enrichment processes.
The Garden Combination Mix Inoculant is an excellent tool for gardeners looking to improve their soil's nitrogen content naturally and sustainably. Its ease of use, compatibility with a wide range of legumes, and organic certification make it a valuable addition to any organic gardening regimen.

Great product and great price. Expiration is also in 5 months!
I used this with a soil builder mix and it was very easy to apply. I see lots of nodules so I think it is working as it is supposed to!
Going . to use this with my cover crop laterj on in the season . . . cant wait!
This product came with a long expiration date, so it can be successfully used all season. Directions are clearly stated for proper use. Product gave great seed coating coverage, easy to use. I used minimum water in mixing the product with seed, that it was perfect for hand spreading over my garden.

I bought these seeds to go in bundles of packets of vegetable seeds that I will put in the Blessing Box at a church here in town about late January so people who need to can supplement the groceries they buy with a garden. I'm sure they will love them. If my budget stretches that far, I will get some for myself and let you know how I like them. I still have eight bundles worth of packets of seeds to purchase for them first, though.
Appreciate that you have this in bulk quantities. We use this as a rooting hormone and as a potting mix and soil supplement. Kelp meal is rich in minerals and micro-nutrients and contains growth hormones that support healthy root growth.
Helps me keep the ants down on my property. Place outside and keeps ants down even in your house.
I grow flats of this for my pet pigs, because of the high nutritional content. They love it. I find them waiting at the growing location every afternoon waiting for their fave. I've grown beautiful flats of pea sprouts and alfalfa for them too, but they turn up their snouts and walk away.
Top notch fertilizer and great store
