Green Lacewing - Eggs (Unit Of 5,000)

Green Lacewing - Eggs (Unit Of 5,000)

Very Effective Predator of Soft-Bodied Insects

Chrysoperla rufilabris larvae, Green Lacewing larvae (also known as aphid lions) devour aphids and will feed on mealybugs, cottony cushion scale, insect eggs, mites, thrips, red spider mites, moth eggs and small caterpillars. Release one Green Lacewing larva per twenty pests, or two larvae per one square foot. Use 10,000 to 50,000 larvae per acre.

  • Lacewing eggs are incubated at the insectary and upon arrival some may have hatched into larvae.
  • They are mixed with rice hulls for easy distribution and should be released (as long as hatched larvae can be observed) the same day received. Simply sprinkle the contents over the target area.
  • If you would like to observe the larvae, or check the contents of your bottle before release, sprinkle some of the contents onto a piece of white paper. You will see larvae crawling amongst the rice hulls.
  • The larvae will feed for approximately 10 to 14 days (depending on climatic conditions and available food source) and then pupate. You may wish to introduce more larvae at that time.

Not sure what I got for my money

I received the vial of lacewings and could see no movement though I dumped a portion out on white paper several times. After a couple of days, I finally dumped the whole contents out and saw a couple of larvae moving. At that point I released the contents on my dahlia patch which seemed to suffer from spider mites and leaf hoppers. I likely purchased these too late and I am also not at all sure that I got what I paid for as I saw so few larvae. The good news is that I saw one adult lacewing yesterday, but of course there is no evidence that it came from the vial I purchased.
