Planting & Care

Soil & Water:Plant thrives in rich, moist garden soil in full sun to part shade. Prefers regular watering and produces a lot of biomass, both above and below the ground.

Planting & Growing:In the spring, lightly scarify the seed by rubbing on sandpaper and plant in pots or directly in the garden. Barely cover the seed, tamp securely, and keep warm, evenly moist and in the light until germination. Germination takes 1-2 weeks. Thin or transplant to 2 ft. apart.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest after 2 years of more of growth. Flowers and leaves can be cut in mid summer, but roots should be dug up in the fall.
