Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Peppers require deeply-worked, well-drained soil with plenty of added organic matter and a pH of 6.0-6.8. Water deeply, but don't over water.

Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 8 weeks before the last frost. Direct seeding is not recommended. Stake to keep fruit off the ground and mulch for disease and weed control.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest the first fruits early to encourage continued production through the season. Cut (don't pull) the fruit from the stems. These peppers may be harvested from the green stage through the color changes.

Super slow growing

Takes forever to germinate, like weeks. Now it has been two full months and finally one plant of my 4 has gotten a single flower. Maybe I'll get a pepper by October.
Won't be planting these again.

Slow germination

I almost thought these weren't going to germinate at all; they came up much later than my other peppers. They did eventually come up. However, germination rate was poor. I grew several other seeds, including another type of pepper, (all in the same conditions) and everything came up better than these did.

This black beauty is a sweet bell of the garden

You can call it purple, but it looks black to me and matures into a clear, bright red. It's as sweet and juicy as any thick walled bell pepper but a little smaller. Gorgeous is salads and salsa.
