Nesting Kits for Your Mason Bees
Native Orchard Mason Bees are widespread throughout North America. They are superb early season pollinators of fruit trees, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries-and better than honeybees, because the Masons' active in colder temperatures and their hairy bodies carry more of the pollen that fertilizes your blossoms. Each female Orchard Bee makes her own nest in a series of tubes, sealed with mud. They are useful, small and docile-and they hardly ever sting unless severely provoked.
In nature, female mason bees lay their eggs in hollow plant stems, insect holes, dead trees, even under house shingles. Finding such places is hard work! By putting up our nest kits, you are providing an easy, ideal, "ready-made" home for the bees until they "hatch out" the following spring. They will repay your kindness by pollinating your early spring fruits and berries. And, they like company. Once the nest kits have been discovered, they'll tell all of their friends!
You can attract them to your garden with our nesting kits that provide exactly the right size holes the Orchard Bees are seeking in early Spring, in which to lay their eggs. Place the nest kit in a sheltered, sunny spot facing East or South to catch the morning sun. Under the eaves of a shed or garage is an ideal location and be sure to avoid direct exposure to rain. The mud filled tubs can be ruined if they get soaked.

Extensive research by USDA has found that 6" long cardboard tubes about 5/16" in diameter are preferred by the bees over 4" holes drilled in wood blocks. The longer 6" tubes also ensure a higher female ratio in the six or seven egg compartments-when compared to 4" long tubes.
- The 6" cardboard nesting tubes are made from Kraft paper, clear wrapped for moisture resistance.
- The housing is made from 100% recyled and recyclable polypropylene.
- Each Nest Kit comes with an informative leaflet about Orchard Mason Bees.
- Mason bees are NOT included with the Kit, you will receive hollow tubes which the bees will fill themselves.

I love this process - I had mason bees and cutter bees (and probably many other types too). Very cool to see how they build these little nests.
I think Peaceful Valley needs to also stock replacement tubes. I had to go elsewhere to buy them.
Best
The tubes were exactly what I wanted. Good quality and good price.
I'm very excited about increasing my population of Mason bees in my yard. This year the bee population was so low that my fruit trees will not be producing much fruit. We also had a lot of rain in Oregon and the cold weather lasted until the beginning of May which caused the bees to stay in hibernation.

I bought these seeds to go in bundles of packets of vegetable seeds that I will put in the Blessing Box at a church here in town about late January so people who need to can supplement the groceries they buy with a garden. I'm sure they will love them. If my budget stretches that far, I will get some for myself and let you know how I like them. I still have eight bundles worth of packets of seeds to purchase for them first, though.
Appreciate that you have this in bulk quantities. We use this as a rooting hormone and as a potting mix and soil supplement. Kelp meal is rich in minerals and micro-nutrients and contains growth hormones that support healthy root growth.
Helps me keep the ants down on my property. Place outside and keeps ants down even in your house.
I grow flats of this for my pet pigs, because of the high nutritional content. They love it. I find them waiting at the growing location every afternoon waiting for their fave. I've grown beautiful flats of pea sprouts and alfalfa for them too, but they turn up their snouts and walk away.
