Description
Description
Organic Jasmine-Scented Nicotiana is a certified organic flowering start selected for luminous white, starry blooms and fragrance that becomes most noticeable from evening into night. Upright stems and pale flowers give the plant a strong presence in moon gardens, mixed borders, patio plantings, and cutting beds, especially where its scent can be enjoyed near an outdoor sitting area.
Nicotiana grows in full sun or part sun and favors a fertile, well-drained site that does not dry abruptly during active growth. It is generally treated as a warm-season annual where winters freeze, although plants may persist longer in very mild climates. Because seasonal performance depends on frost timing, use the USDA Growing Zone lookup together with local temperature information rather than treating the broad zone listing as a promise of perennial survival. No fruit-tree chill hours or pollinizer companion is required for this ornamental display.
Move the potted start outdoors after damaging cold has passed. Plant at the original soil line, water the root ball thoroughly, and maintain even—but not saturated—moisture during establishment. Space plants for air circulation and their upright mature habit. In containers, drainage holes and regular moisture checks are essential because small pots can change quickly during hot or windy weather. Avoid a fixed feeding schedule; assess growth and soil condition before applying fertilizer.
Remove faded flowers if you want a tidier planting and continued bloom, or allow selected seed capsules to mature where reseeding is acceptable. Cut stems as the first flowers begin opening, preferably when cool, and place them promptly in clean water. Check new growth and leaf undersides for aphids, whiteflies, caterpillars, or disease symptoms. Use our small-plant transplant guide for establishment steps, and consult the guide to flowers for beneficial-insect gardens when coordinating evening and daytime bloom resources.

Planting & Care
Planting & Care
Soil & Water: The plant likes full sun, and moderate water, and prefers to grow in well-fertilized soil (chicken manure).A side dressing of compost or more manure will boost yield.
Planting & Growing: Plant starts directly when the soil reaches 60F.
Harvesting & Storage: Harvest leaves at 2-week intervals or cut and hang to dry. Care needs to be taken in drying as too rapidly compromises aroma and flavor, while too slowly may develop mold.

We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, potted or bare root trees, vegetable crowns, etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as ""Perishable"" immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.
