This cabbage offers a sweet, mild taste that is suited to fresh salads, sautéing, or fermenting into sauerkraut. Its unique leaf structure also makes it a favorite for stuffed cabbage rolls. Savoy Perfection thrives in cool weather, making it an excellent choice for fall and spring gardens.

Schedule Savoy Perfection Cabbage for the cool-season planting window appropriate to your climate. Start seed in a protected setting or direct sow when the product record allows, then thin or transplant so each plant has room to develop. Check moisture at root depth and adjust irrigation to weather and soil rather than a universal schedule. As maturity approaches, inspect head, stem, or leaf development according to the crop type and harvest at the preferred size and firmness.

It performs best in full sun with well-draining, fertile soil, producing compact yet generously sized heads that resist splitting.

Before sowing Savoy Perfection Cabbage, review the packet alongside the current product details and note any range in temperature, germination, or maturity. Ranges reflect biological and seasonal variation rather than a fixed promise. Label each planting with its date and location, then compare emergence, growth, and harvest with local weather. This record is useful for succession plantings and for deciding whether the crop fits better into an earlier or later seasonal window.

Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Needs light to germinate so do not cover with soil. Press into well-drained soil but do not cover. Water regularly since it will die back if soil dries out.

Planting & Growing: Direct sow after the last frost. The seeds are slow to germinate but once they do they grow quickly and often become leggy. If plants lean, mound soil around the bases.

Harvesting & Storage: Cut and use the stalks and leaves throughout fresh the summer. Use the tender stalks as well as the leaves early in the summer, and later in the summer use only the leaves. Dry the leaves at the end of the summer for use throughout the year.
