Description
Description
Purple Italian seed garlic is an uncommon Italian Rocambole hardneck brought to the United States around 1920, probably from northern Italy where winters better suit this garlic group. Most Italian-named garlics in American gardens are softnecks, which makes this immigrant Rocambole especially distinctive. It offers colorful wrappers, easy-peel cloves, edible scapes, and rich flavor without overwhelming heat.
Mix & match savings. This item is eligible for the Garlic Mix & Match discount. Combine eligible seed garlic and shallots to save 10% at 3 pounds, 15% at 10 pounds, or 20% at 30 pounds. The discount is applied automatically in the cart.
Purple Italian is a rare treat for growers who expect Italian garlic to be softneck. This cold-loving Rocambole instead produces broad leaves, curled scapes, and a single ring of 8–12 easy-peel cloves touched with red, brown, and purple. The flavor is rich without being punishingly hot, making the harvest easy to share. Grow it for uncommon heritage, beautiful bulbs, and a satisfying connection between northern Italian and American gardens.
The flavor is rich and rounded with medium heat rather than an aggressive burn. Raw cloves work in pesto, dressings, bruschetta, and salsa, while roasting emphasizes sweetness and a savory, lingering finish. Use it with pasta, potatoes, soups, beans, and meats. Large cloves are convenient for slicing or roasting whole, and tender scapes can be grilled, sautéed, or blended into sauces.
When growing Purple Italian, plant in fall in a sunny bed where winter cold is dependable and spring drainage is excellent. Keep moisture even as the broad leaves expand, and harvest the scapes while they are still curled. Use the gradual browning of lower leaves—not a rigid date—to judge the mid-summer digging window. Cure the colorful bulbs gently out of direct sun, then bring them to the kitchen before longer-keeping softnecks.

Claim Deadline is 45 Days from Purchase or Delivery. (Claims placed after December 31st will be denied.)
What We Guarantee
Our only guarantee is that the seed garlic we sell will germinate, provided you follow the steps listed in our Garlic Planting & Growing Guide. This guarantee is only available to customers who purchase their seed garlic directly from us.
What We Cannot Guarantee
We cannot guarantee that your garlic will remain alive & healthy, or sizes up properly, as there are too many variables beyond our control to be able to do so (i.e. soil preparation, fertilization, weed and pest control, temperature control, irrigation, etc).
How to Request a Credit
If you encounter a significant lack of germination of your garlic (over 50%), please contact us within 45 days of delivery. If we determine that your garlic had a significant lack of germination, we will issue you a credit (not a refund) for the purchase price of your garlic (excluding shipping).* This 45-day time frame is meant to allow you up to 2 weeks to plant your garlic, and up to 4 weeks to check for signs of growth.
(*) We reserve the right to not issue credit for items already replaced. We also reserve the right to require photographic evidence of the lack of germination of your garlic.

No complain about this garlic.
Few days after shoot out of the ground and looks exelente!
Separation of cloves was great, some pest damage. Bulbs were dry and very easy to separate and plant the cloves. Growing about 1000 (cloves) mixed varieties. My first garlic order from peaceful valley, very pleased with service and professional customer service from them.
Planting this garlic soon, it said around 42 to 72 cloves of garlic, I ended up getting 82 so I am satisfied with that! Shipping was pretty slow however, that could be improved. Either way it is looking good with garlic next year!
We want to expand by growing a variety of garlic, this had great reviews. Ww will let you know how we do next year
Great garlic. Great service. I am looking forward to a productive growing season.
