Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Beets are easily grown; they prefer deep, loose soil and even, moderate water. Mulch once established to protect the roots from heat.

Planting & Growing: Soak seeds for at least 12 hours before planting to promote germination. Space 2" for greens, 3" for summer harvest beets, and 4" for storage growing beets. Tolerates light shade. Beets grow best with cool soil in spring and fall.

Harvesting & Storage: For best flavor, harvest roots while they are 1"-3". To minimize moisture loss in the roots, twist off the greens. Roots store well in humid, cool conditions. Greens should be eaten within 1 or 2 days of picking.

Tastes great!

I just harvested these beets today and they were DELICIOUS! The greens were great too, I sauteed them with garlic and a squeeze of lemon.

I will definitely save seeds so I can grow these again. Very impressed with the quality from Grow Organic.

Impressive start

I'm fairly new at gardening, and recently learned I could plant a fall garden in Western NY. I ordered these seeds to see how successful I would be. I soaked the seeds as directed, and planted them in my garden last week. After a week of traveling, I came back to find a bounty of plants growing! My early season beets were fantastic, so we decided to try these for the fall garden. I'm hoping I can get a good harvest before the snow arrives.

Quick Germination

Fall 2021 is my first time doing a direct sow into containers so I was nervous...is the ground 70 degrees? How much do I water? Do I need to cover? Will it germinate? I was so pleasantly surprised when these seeds germinated and cute little sprouts popped up! I'm in Zone 9b and all I did was soak the seeds overnight and poked a hole in the dirt and dropped in 2-3 seeds per hole. Closed the hole up and misted with water everyday until it sprouted, which took about 5 days. So easy! Can't wait till harvest time!
