Sow Varna Leek according to the local cool-season window and the recorded starting method. Give seedlings strong light when started indoors, then transplant or thin them to the listed spacing. Keep weeds from competing with the narrow foliage and evaluate soil moisture at root depth rather than using a universal schedule. Harvest leaves, stems, or mature bulbs according to the crop type. For storage types, allow curing after the neck and outer layers reach an appropriate stage.
Varna Leeks grow upright and compact, making them ideal for small gardens or interplanting with other vegetables.
Easy to cultivate and harvest, this leek is a favorite for both beginner and experienced gardeners.
Its mild flavor and tender texture make it a standout addition to any kitchen.
Before sowing Varna Leek, review the packet alongside the current product details and note any range in temperature, germination, or maturity. Ranges reflect biological and seasonal variation rather than a fixed promise. Label each planting with its date and location, then compare emergence, growth, and harvest with local weather. This record is useful for succession plantings and for deciding whether the crop fits better into an earlier or later seasonal window.

Planting & Care
Planting & Care
Soil & Water: Leeks prefer well-drained, limed soil, rich in organic matter. You can either fill a 6"-8" trench with compost and fill up the trench as the leeks grow, or plant at surface level and hill them up.
Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Keep tops trimmed to 2" and set out 2 weeks before last frost. In warm climates, seed is usually sown in summer for a fall harvest. Leeks overwinter in mild climates.
Harvesting & Storage: In freezing climates, leeks should be stored in cool, moist conditions. Many gardeners mulch the ground heavily in winter and harvest directly from the ground as needed.

If you like soup add these! Grew well if direct sown in Zone 9a!
These seeds germinated well but unfortunately got eaten up by something quickly. I replanted and am hoping for round 2.
I had never grown leeks before but last year i had an excellent couple of rows of them. Last fall I had 2 or 3 left over leeks and they survived one of our hardest winters! Down in deep East Texas we rarely hit the teens but we got down to 11 degrees and below freezing for a solid week and those leeks are still thriving! I bought GrowOrganic Leek seeds because I'm going to grow leeks and save the seeds! I'm a total leek convert!
So excited to get these for such a great price! I planted them a few days ago, starting them indoors, and saving half for direct sowing later. Can't wait to try them!
