If youve ever struggled to keep Salvia clevelandii happy, meet its easy-going cousin, Salvia Pozo Blue, a superstar hybrid between S. clevelandii and S. leucophylla thats as rugged as it is gorgeous! Originally developed at Las Pilitas Nursery, this California native hybrid brings gardeners the best of both worlds: the heady, resinous scent and whorled violet-blue blooms of clevelandii with the tough, adaptable nature of leucophylla.
A true survivor plant, Pozo Blue laughs in the face of heat, drought, and even clay-ish soils (yes, the kind that make other sages pout). Once established, its one of the most resilient and low-maintenance perennials you can grow. Deer tend to steer clear thanks to its aromatic foliage, but pollinators cant get enough! Expect a steady parade of hummingbirds, butterflies, and native bees visiting from June through October.
Growing to about 4 x 4, Pozo Blue makes a striking feature in waterwise landscapes, native gardens, and sunny slopes. It also thrives in large containers (15+ gallons)perfect for patios where you can enjoy that incredible, head-turning fragrance up close. Its silvery-green, textured foliage provides year-round appeal, contrasting beautifully with other California natives like Eriogonum, Artemisia, or Penstemon.
For best results, plant in full sun and well-draining soil. Once established, deep but infrequent watering will keep it happy. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage fresh growth. If you're into sensory gardening, Pozo Blue is a must. Just brushing the leaves releases a burst of that signature sage scent that says California summer.
Fun Fact: The name Pozo Blue comes from the Pozo region in San Luis Obispo County, where the hybrid was first discovered, an area known for its rugged beauty and wildflower diversity. A fitting home for such a tough and beautiful sage!

We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, potted or bare root trees, vegetable crowns, etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as ""Perishable"" immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.
