Description
Description
Peaceful Valley General Livestock Irrigated Pasture Mix is a perennial forage blend designed for productive, managed pasture on moderate- to high-fertility soils below approximately 3,000 feet. It combines cool-season grasses for rapid, palatable forage with complementary legumes that contribute protein, seasonal diversity, and biological nitrogen fixation.
The blend contains Fawn fescue, tetraploid perennial ryegrass, orchardgrass, tetraploid annual ryegrass, Ladino clover, strawberry clover, broadleaf birdsfoot trefoil, and red clover. These species differ in growth timing and rooting habit, helping extend forage availability and improve ground coverage. The mix does not contain alfalfa, timothy, or tall fescue.
Plant into a firm, weed-free seedbed in early spring or late summer when irrigation is available. Drilling gives the most uniform placement; broadcast seed should be lightly incorporated or rolled for good seed-to-soil contact. Keep livestock off newly seeded pasture until plants are securely rooted, then use rotational grazing and allow adequate recovery between grazing periods. Because this blend contains clovers, normal livestock-bloat precautions remain appropriate.
- Application rate: Drill at 25 lb per acre; broadcast at 30 lb per acre
- Inoculant: No additional inoculant is normally needed; the legume seed is Nitrocoated with compatible inoculant.
- Plant height: Up to approximately 3½ feet, depending on fertility and grazing management
- Uses: Irrigated pasture and forage for general livestock

Note for certified organic growers: Nitrocoated seed is conventionally grown, non-GMO seed with no fungicide or insecticide seed treatment applied before coating. The coating contains certified organic powdered limestone, an organically approved binder, and an OMRI-approved peat-based inoculant, applied through an OMRI-approved process on a dedicated Nitrocoated-seed treatment line.

We grow this for our pigs. They seem to enjoy it. Not sure how much they actually eat vs. how much they root around in, but it grows well.
