Description
Based in Grass Valley, CA, Scarlet’s Worm Farm is family owned and operated as Nevada County’s local source for vermicomposting supplies! From recycling organic matter into nutrients, to increasing beneficial microorganisms in the soil, worms are essential for a healthy soil food web.
Worms are a wonderful companion for healthy soil! These live critters were hatched in our wormery to convert organic matter into dark, soil-enriching castings. Our hardworking worms are fed a special diet of organic input and locally sourced coffee grounds!
Our worms prefer an outdoor temperature range of 32-84 Fahrenheit, but are most active between 60-70 degrees. We recommend “planting” 10 worms per square foot in compost piles and moist planting beds rich in organic matter.
*May contain more than one type of worm species. The types of composting worms we farm are Red Wiggler (Eisenia fetida), European Nightcrawler (Eisenia hortensis) and Indian Blues (Perionyx excavatus)

*** During Summer season and high temperatures, there is greater risk to ship worms in high heat which could cause delays in shipment ***Vermicomposting benefits
- Red composting worms process suitable food scraps and bedding into castings that can be incorporated into a broader soil-building program.
- The listed quantity helps gardeners select a starter population appropriate to the bin size and amount of feedstock available.
- A managed worm bin can divert some plant-based kitchen scraps while producing a finished material for garden use.
Care guidance: These are live organisms, not bagged fertilizer. Prepare moist bedding before arrival, provide ventilation and drainage, and protect the bin from temperature extremes. Add food gradually, bury it beneath bedding, and adjust feeding if material accumulates or odors develop. Check local guidance before adding unfamiliar feedstocks.

Received the order but no available worms in the container. Was told that it might be hiding in the dirt but I went through the whole thing and it was just pure dirt as per the picture. If I could do 0 star I would as I just paid for 17 dollars for dirt which is disappointing.
Friendly wigglers arrived very fast and healthy, put in there new home and after a week there happy and eating the veggi waste.
Well worth it
