Scarlet's Worm Farm - 150 Composting Worms

Based in Grass Valley, CA, Scarlet’s Worm Farm is family owned and operated as Nevada County’s local source for vermicomposting supplies! From recycling organic matter into nutrients, to increasing beneficial microorganisms in the soil, worms are essential for a healthy soil food web.

Worms are a wonderful companion for healthy soil! These live critters were hatched in our wormery to convert organic matter into dark, soil-enriching castings. Our hardworking worms are fed a special diet of organic input and locally sourced coffee grounds!

Our worms prefer an outdoor temperature range of 32-84 Fahrenheit, but are most active between 60-70 degrees. We recommend “planting” 10 worms per square foot in compost piles and moist planting beds rich in organic matter.

Care guidance: These are live organisms, not bagged fertilizer. Prepare moist bedding before arrival, provide ventilation and drainage, and protect the bin from temperature extremes. Add food gradually, bury it beneath bedding, and adjust feeding if material accumulates or odors develop. Check local guidance before adding unfamiliar feedstocks.
