Amsterdam Seasoning Celery Seeds
Long Lasting Celery Taste
This fast-growing seasoning celery is prized for its glossy green leaves packed with rich, concentrated celery flavor. Amsterdam celery doesn’t form thick stalks like common varieties but instead produces dense sprays of flat, aromatic foliage—ideal for chopping into soups, stews, and savory dishes. Popular in European cooking, this variety adds a mellow base note to broths and sautés and offers a more intense herbal flavor than traditional celery.
Unlike its bulking cousins, seasoning celery thrives in small gardens, containers, and raised beds. Plants grow up to 12 inches tall and are typically harvested for their leaves throughout the season. You can sow seeds indoors or directly outdoors, depending on your growing zone and frost dates. It’s frost-hardy and typically grown as an annual, although it is technically a biennial. Frequent harvesting encourages more leafy growth and prevents flowering.
This variety is a smart choice for gardeners seeking a compact, leaf-heavy celery with reliable performance in spring and fall plantings. With proper spacing and consistent watering, it yields a continuous harvest of flavorful greens for home chefs and market growers alike.
