Description
Description
Double Standard Corn is a fast-growing, early-maturing variety that produces delicious bi-color ears with tender, sweet kernels. Each ear grows to about 7-8 inches long, with a mix of creamy yellow and white kernels that are perfect for fresh eating, grilling, or boiling. Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, this open-pollinated variety matures in just 70-75 days, making it one of the quickest corn varieties to harvest. The plants grow to about 6 feet tall and are highly productive, delivering multiple ears per stalk.

Direct sow Double Standard Corn after the soil has warmed, arranging plants in a block rather than one long row when space permits. Block planting places more plants near one another during wind pollination. Thin to the recorded spacing and check root-zone moisture as stalks develop. Harvest timing depends on the corn type: sweet corn is picked for fresh kernels, while flour, popcorn, and ornamental types remain longer to dry. Use the product’s maturity and harvest cues when evaluating ears.
Double Standard Corn is known for its excellent germination, even in cooler soils, making it a reliable choice for early plantings.
This variety is ideal for small gardens or urban spaces and performs well in traditional rows or blocks.
Its sweet flavor and tender texture make it a favorite for summer barbecues and fresh-picked meals.
Before sowing Double Standard Corn, review the packet alongside the current product details and note any range in temperature, germination, or maturity. Ranges reflect biological and seasonal variation rather than a fixed promise. Label each planting with its date and location, then compare emergence, growth, and harvest with local weather. This record is useful for succession plantings and for deciding whether the crop fits better into an earlier or later seasonal window.

Planting & Care
Soil & Water: Corn is a heavy feeder requiring high amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK). Its weak and shallow root system likes loose soil with a high compost content.
Planting & Growing: Sow seeds directly outdoors 1 week after the last frost. You can start earlier by using black or green plastic mulches and floating row covers to obtain optimum conditions. Plant in blocks rather than rows to ensure good germination. To prevent cross-pollination, plant different varieties at least 500'.
Harvesting & Storage: Ripe corn usually has a small amount of green silk near the top, with dry, brownish silk at the ends. Sugar content is highest in the morning.

This has been my first experience with Peaceful Valley, and I am sold! All my popcorn has sprouted and looks very healthy. I look forward to purchasing more through PV next season!!
Both easy and fun to grow, not to mention tasty
I love this corn. Produces very large, sweet ears, and also very productive.
This was probably the worst corn I have ever grown. Lots of strange growth, ears with both male and female components. Out of the whole bed, I got 4 edible ears.
