Fiskars Ergo Cultivator

The Fiskars Ergo Cultivator is a hand tool for loosening surface soil, mixing amendments, and preparing small planting areas. Offset, pre-sharpened tines create broad soil contact, while the cast-aluminum head resists corrosion. Its oversized molded grip provides a comfortable hand position and includes a large hanging hole for storage.

Work in soil that is moist enough to crumble but not saturated, drawing the tines through the upper layer rather than forcing them into compacted subsoil. Around established plants, cultivate shallowly to avoid cutting feeder roots or disturbing irrigation components. Use a digging fork or larger tool for hard ground, stones, and deep preparation. Brush soil from the tines after each session, dry the head, and inspect the grip before storage. Keeping the tool clean also reduces the chance of moving weed seed or soilborne problems between beds.
