This is a very high quality tool, suitable for daily use. It attaches to an easily available hoe or rake handle and makes short work of light weeds. It can also remove heavy weeds with some effort but isn't the best tool for that. I found it indispensable for weeding large areas mulched with wood chips and easy on the back for light weeding in densely planted beds. The 3.5" head works better for me than would the larger (5") for things like getting in between sunflowers, but you could cover more ground with a larger blade, if that's what you're after. Having both would be nice. I like that the blade can be removed for sharpening or replacement -- that's the reason I bought this brand rather than a second-rate, but similar, tool available in local hardware stores. After a couple of weeks, it's become one of the first tools I pick up for daily maintenance.
There was a delay in shipping, but the vendor made things right.
Glaser makes the best garden tools I've ever seen. I enjoy hoeing with the stirrup hoes like I never thought possible. Really its a bargain for the premium quality tool you recieve.
My 3.5 inch Glaser Stirrup Hoe operates with better concentrated weed-shearing and root removal for very fast and easy results. If roots are deep, I routinely lower the handle to be more parallel with the soil; that way, the blade can go deeper and obtain the most effective cutting angle. Weed the garden when your soil is dry. It is faster and there is no buildup on the cutting edge of the blade. By Glaser using a bolted blade, the blade can be reversed for longer cutting edge life. Remember: "Glaser is Good", nay, "Glaser is GREAT!"...
There are “tools,” and then there are REAL TOOLS. The Glaser (3.5”) Stirrup Hoe deservedly falls into that REAL TOOL category…and that from a retired guy who would rather be walking through the woods, than toiling in the soil any day. But a new day dawned when the stirrup hoe arrived! Since then -a couple of weeks now- I’ve been out working our wildly overgrown country yard, with simple push/pull strokes, into an open, passable space for my wife, daughter, and 20-month-old granddaughter to safely do their raised-bed gardening, thanks to the Glaser 3.5” Stirrup Hoe (which I can even use single-handed, when necessary).

Great weeding tool. The 3.5 in size gets into tight spaces and saves the back!!
