Soil & Water: Celery requires rich, loamy soil and heavy, consistent water and patience. Incorporate lots of organic matter into the soil to help hold moisture. Avoid overhead watering which can collect between the stalks and promote disease and pest problems.
Planting & Growing: Start indoors 10-12 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds shallowly, as they need some light to germinate. Keep soil moist. Move outdoors when night temperature stays above 40°F.
Harvesting & Storage: Cut off the entire plant at soil level as soon as it reaches a diameter of 3", or remove individual outer stalks when they reach 12" tall.
