Collard Old Timey Blue Greens Seeds (Organic)

Collard Old Timey Blue Greens Seeds (Organic)

Heirloom greens, rich flavor.

Old Timey Blue Collard Greens are an heirloom favorite prized for their broad, tender leaves and rich, savory flavor. This variety produces upright plants with striking blue-green foliage that adds beauty and productivity to your garden. Thriving in full sun to partial shade and nutrient-rich, well-draining soil, these collards mature in about 60-70 days and are incredibly cold-hardy, improving in flavor after a light frost. The tender leaves are perfect for steaming, sautéing, or adding to soups and stews, offering a hearty, nutritious addition to your meals. Regular harvesting of the outer leaves encourages continuous growth, ensuring a steady supply of fresh greens throughout the season. Old Timey Blue Collards are easy to grow and resistant to bolting, making them a reliable choice for gardeners of all levels. Their rich heritage and robust flavor make them a favorite for traditional Southern cooking and beyond. Whether you’re cultivating them for their taste, nutrition, or visual appeal, these collards are a classic and rewarding crop.

Planting & Care

Soil and Water: Collards need regular water and rich soil. Feed with a good compost or fertilizer, such as fish emulsion, once a month.

Collards taste best after a frost. Can overwinter in most areas, hardy to zone 7. Cover with light row cover as a barrier to cabbage worms.

Harvesting and Storage: Harvest leaves from the bottom up as the plant grows.
