Organic Red Heritage Raspberry is one certified-organic potted plant with vigorous primocanes and firm, bright-red fruit. The medium-size berries have a mild, approachable flavor and ripen late in the season. Heritage is a dependable choice for gardeners who want a fall-bearing raspberry with a relatively low chill requirement, although early frost can shorten the final portion of its harvest in colder climates.
- Plant form: One certified-organic potted raspberry plant
- USDA zones: 4–8
- Chill requirement: Approximately 250 hours
- Fruiting habit: Primocane, or fall bearing
- Pollination: Self-fruitful; no companion cultivar is required
- Harvest: Late summer into fall, depending on frost timing
Plant Heritage in full sun and fertile soil with good drainage. Thoroughly moisten the nursery root ball, loosen only congested outer roots, and preserve the existing crown depth when transplanting. Water deeply while roots establish and maintain even moisture from flowering through harvest without leaving the soil saturated. Place mulch around the planting to reduce weeds and moisture fluctuations while keeping the crown uncovered. A simple trellis or wire support keeps vigorous fruiting canes upright and makes picking easier.
For one concentrated fall crop, cut all fruited canes to ground level during winter dormancy. New primocanes will grow and fruit later in the same season, simplifying renewal pruning. Where the season is long enough, gardeners can leave healthy lower cane portions after their fruiting tips finish. Those sections may carry a smaller floricane crop the next summer and should be removed after harvest. Thin damaged or crowded growth and leave space for sunlight and air movement through the row.
Heritage sets fruit without another variety, so a named pollinizer partner is unnecessary; protecting bees during bloom still supports full berry development. Use the raspberry growing guide for establishment and pruning details, and browse the raspberry collection to compare red and yellow selections with other harvest periods. Organic certification covers the nursery plant as sold; continued organic management depends on later soil, fertilizer, and pest-control choices.

We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, potted or bare root trees, vegetable crowns, etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as ""Perishable"" immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.
