Wild Dandelion Seeds (Organic)

Bitter edible greens and classic yellow flowers

Organic wild dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is a hardy herbaceous perennial with deeply toothed leaves and bright yellow flowers. Young leaves have a pleasantly bitter flavor and can be used fresh or cooked; the roots may be roasted for a coffee-style beverage.

Sow in spring in a prepared bed with full sun to part shade and rich, well-drained soil. Press seed into the surface, cover very lightly, tamp, and keep evenly moist until germination. Thin or transplant seedlings to allow room for the deep taproots to develop.

Harvest young leaves as needed. For larger roots, allow plants to grow into a second season before lifting. Dandelion self-seeds readily, so remove flower heads before seed dispersal if you do not want it to spread. Browse additional edible varieties in our Vegetable Seeds collection.
