Harvest fruit at the size, color, and firmness described for the variety, using clean cuts to avoid damaging stems.
This heat-tolerant variety thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, producing abundant fruits throughout the growing season.
Before sowing Ping Tung Long Eggplant, review the packet alongside the current product details and note any range in temperature, germination, or maturity. Ranges reflect biological and seasonal variation rather than a fixed promise. Label each planting with its date and location, then compare emergence, growth, and harvest with local weather. This record is useful for succession plantings and for deciding whether the crop fits better into an earlier or later seasonal window.

Planting & Care
Planting & Care
Soil & Water: Eggplants prefer moderately fertile, well-drained loamy soil supplemented with plenty of added organic matter and a pH of 6.0-6.8. Eggplants require heavy water and warm soil.
Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost. Sow seeds directly in warm climates only. Because eggplants need plenty of water and warm conditions to grow, production accessories such as drip irrigation, plastic mulch, and row covers are a good idea. All eggplants are chill sensitive.
Harvesting & Storage: Begin harvesting early when fruits are half their mature size; young fruits are more tender and early picking will increase yields. Cut the fruit from the plant with shears leaving some stem attached.
