Honeyrock Melon Seeds (Organic)

Honeyrock Melon Seeds (Organic)

Honeyrock Melons - Sweet Deep-Salmon Flesh

Honeyrock Melon is an heirloom variety celebrated for its small, round fruit and rich, sweet flavor. Each melon grows to about 3-4 pounds, with netted, golden skin and firm, deep orange flesh that is perfect for fresh eating, fruit salads, or desserts. Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, Honeyrock Melons mature in about 80-85 days, providing a quick and reliable harvest. The compact vines are highly productive and resistant to common melon diseases, ensuring healthy plants and consistent yields. This variety is heat-tolerant and performs exceptionally well in warm climates, making it a favorite for summer gardens. Honeyrock Melons are easy to grow and store well, retaining their sweetness and texture after harvest. Whether you’re cultivating them for their heirloom heritage, robust flavor, or convenience, these melons are a delightful addition to your garden. Enjoy the rich taste of summer with Honeyrock Melon.

Melon - Honeyrock - Cucumis melo

Tender Annual Heirloom. Honeyrock melons grow up to 6" in diameter and 3-4 lb. Tough gray-green skin with a coarse open net protects thick, sweet deep-salmon flesh. Resistant to fusarium wilt. Expect 5-7 melons per plant, for home garden and local market in northeast US and southern Canada. Developed at Michigan State and was an All American Selection in 1933. Also called Sugar Rock.

Did You Know? Melons are in the same gourd family as cucumbers, pumpkins, and squash.

Soil & Water: Melons like moderately rich, well-drained soils with plenty of phosphorous and potassium and a pH of 6.0-6.8. For flavorful fruits, melons need moderate water as seedlings, low water before transplanting, moderate water during growth, and low, even water during fruit development.

Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 2-3 weeks before the last frost or seed directly after the last frost. Melons need plentiful heat to develop; use plastic mulch and row covers in cooler climates.

Harvesting & Storage: Melons are ripe when the rind changes color to yellow and gentle pressure separates the stem from the vine. Melons can store in the refrigerator for about a week.
