Blooming!

The very top flower bud opened this weekend and I am thrilled. The other buds on the same plant are close to opening. I planted only three but I am really pleased. American sunflowers are next on my 'wish list'.

Love it

I've grown these Mexican sunflowers in the past and was searching for more seeds. Grow Organics had what I wanted. Striking color in the garden that bees, and beneficials flock towards it.

Mexican Sunflower

I once grew this flower in a community garden and got in trouble because it grew TOO BIG!!! It was gloriously HUGE, towering over the other gardeners plots. Unfortunately, that particular community garden had a ridiculous rule that plots could only contain 10% flowers and must contain 90% vegetables. Technically, at ground level, this plant took up less than 10% of our plot but it towered upwards and spread out to an immensely wonderful height and width and we got chastised and lectured by the committee for being out of compliance with the garden regulations. We became "Community Garden Rebels"!!! Plant the seeds when the soil is thoroughly warm and it\'s easy to grow. I grow it nearly every year.
