Plant Appearance
Bloomsdale Spinach is visually striking with its dark green, savoyed leaves. The term "savoyed" refers to the crinkled or wrinkled texture of the leaves, which gives them a distinctive appearance. These deeply crinkled leaves are not only attractive but also serve a practical purpose by providing a larger surface area for photosynthesis, which results in more vigorous growth.
The leaves of Bloomsdale Spinach are typically medium to large in size, making them perfect for both fresh salads and cooked dishes. The vibrant green color of the leaves adds a refreshing touch to any meal.
Taste and Texture
One of the most appealing aspects of Bloomsdale Spinach is its delectable taste and tender texture. The leaves have a mild, earthy flavor with a subtle hint of sweetness, making them palatable to a wide range of taste preferences. Whether you prefer your spinach raw or cooked, Bloomsdale Spinach offers a pleasant and versatile taste.
The tender leaves of Bloomsdale Spinach are not only enjoyable to eat but also easy to incorporate into various recipes. When harvested at the right time, the leaves are tender and crisp, making them ideal for salads. They can also be lightly sautéed, steamed, or added to soups and stews without losing their delightful flavor and texture.
Unique Characteristics

I was pretty disappointed with this pack of seeds. I probably had about a 30% germination rate, and they went to seed super fast. I'm in Michigan so it's not even hot yet. Probably won't buy this variety again.
I am not sure why, but all of the spinach seems to be flowering early, before the leaves develop. Do I pinch off the flowers like in basil?
I tried planting these spinach seeds but was only able to get 1 plant out of the about 30 seeds I planted in the garden. The 1 plant grew well but was disappointed that only 1 seed sprouted out of 30 planted.
Bloomsdale spinach planted outside march on the central coast. Beautiful dark green leaves and really tasty in my salad.
I bought the same seeds last year and had a really good crop of spinach. So good that I bought them again this year and have them already growing in my seed starts. I can hardly wait to have them again this year.

I bought these seeds to go in bundles of packets of vegetable seeds that I will put in the Blessing Box at a church here in town about late January so people who need to can supplement the groceries they buy with a garden. I'm sure they will love them. If my budget stretches that far, I will get some for myself and let you know how I like them. I still have eight bundles worth of packets of seeds to purchase for them first, though.
Appreciate that you have this in bulk quantities. We use this as a rooting hormone and as a potting mix and soil supplement. Kelp meal is rich in minerals and micro-nutrients and contains growth hormones that support healthy root growth.
Helps me keep the ants down on my property. Place outside and keeps ants down even in your house.
I grow flats of this for my pet pigs, because of the high nutritional content. They love it. I find them waiting at the growing location every afternoon waiting for their fave. I've grown beautiful flats of pea sprouts and alfalfa for them too, but they turn up their snouts and walk away.
Top notch fertilizer and great store
