Planting & Care

Soil & Water:Prepare soil in beds with well aged manure or compost. Mulch plants to maintain moisture.

Planting & Growing: Start seed indoors in early spring about 2 months before outside temperatures are consistently above 55 degrees. Sow seed 1/4 inch deep and 1 inch apart in a container of starting mix. Keep moist but not soggy and very warm (80-85 degrees). Provide strong light until seedlings are ready to transplant outdoors. When seedlings are 2 inches tall, transplant to individual pots and maintain heat at 70-75 degrees. Feed with half strength liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks until acclimatizing them to outdoors. Plant out 2 feet apart in full sun.

Harvesting & Storage: Cut peppers from bush when highly glossy and in full color. To dry, either cut full branches or individual peppers which can be strung through their stem end to hand in a dry, warm, airy environment

Barely grew

The seeds germinated and started off rather well. However, the plants did not thrive and only grew a few inches tall. They produced no flowers or fruit. We did have some drastic temperature shifts early in the season that may have affected growth.
