F1 Hybrid Renee's Garden EXCLUSIVE – A traditional European specialty, these handsome cabbages have a solid, rounded, tightly wrapped base of leaves that taper to a point. Flavor is consistently mild and remarkably sweet. Enjoy Conehead’s great fresh flavor and crunchy texture sliced up in salads, shredded for coleslaw, or quickly sauté with a little cumin or caraway seeds, or add to tasty stirfries. Heads grow quickly and are uniform and heavy for their size with strong wrapper leaves and great weather tolerance.

Schedule ‘Conehead’ Pointed Sweetheart Cabbage for the cool-season planting window appropriate to your climate. Start seed in a protected setting or direct sow when the product record allows, then thin or transplant so each plant has room to develop. Check moisture at root depth and adjust irrigation to weather and soil rather than a universal schedule. As maturity approaches, inspect head, stem, or leaf development according to the crop type and harvest at the preferred size and firmness.

Check out our Cabbage Growing Guide for more information.

Before sowing ‘Conehead’ Pointed Sweetheart Cabbage, review the packet alongside the current product details and note any range in temperature, germination, or maturity. Ranges reflect biological and seasonal variation rather than a fixed promise. Label each planting with its date and location, then compare emergence, growth, and harvest with local weather. This record is useful for succession plantings and for deciding whether the crop fits better into an earlier or later seasonal window.

Planting & Care

Planting & Growing: To Start Indoors Start seeds 4-5 weeks before last spring frost. Sow 1" apart in seed starting mix, cover 1/2" deep and keep evenly moist. Provide a strong light source until seedlings are ready to plant out. When several inches tall, transplant seedlings 10" apart into rich soil in full sun, after gradually acclimating to outdoor conditions. To Direct Sow When all danger of frost is over, plant in well-worked, fertile soil in full sun. Sow groups of 2-3 seeds 10" apart in rows spaced 1' apart. When seedlings are several inches tall, thin to 1 strong plant every 10". In mild winter areas, sow again midsummer for a fall crop.
