Melon Cantaloupe Mini Sugar Cube Seeds
Grow Sweet Snack Melons
Mini Sugar Cube melon seeds are an excellent choice for home gardeners and small-scale farmers seeking compact, sweet, and productive melons. This early maturing cantaloupe variety produces personal-sized fruits weighing about 2 pounds, with deeply netted rinds and dense, bright orange flesh. Known for their rich aroma and high sugar content, these melons are ideal for fresh eating, lunchboxes, and market sales.
Plants thrive in full sun and warm, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Mini Sugar Cube melons grow on compact, vigorous vines that perform well in small garden spaces or raised beds, and they are suitable for vertical growing with support. Strong resistance to Fusarium wilt and powdery mildew makes this variety a reliable option for sustainable and organic cultivation. With proper care, plants produce uniform fruits that ripen in about 80 days from transplanting.
Whether you're growing melons for summer snacks, farm stands, or backyard enjoyment, Mini Sugar Cube offers exceptional flavor in a space-saving size. Direct sow or transplant after danger of frost has passed, and enjoy a harvest of sweet, fragrant fruit throughout the season.

Planting & Care
Starting Early Indoors: Several weeks before last frost date, sow seeds in individual pots of seed starting mix. Keep warm and moist, and provide a strong light source until weather warms enough to transplant outdoors.
Direct Seeding: Melons need full sun, rich soil and warm temperatures. Plant only when weather is warm and settled and temperatures stay above 50° (10°C). In rows 4 feet apart, sow groups of 2 to 3 seeds every 2 feet. After germination, thin to the strongest seedling per group, so you end up with one plant every 2 feet. Or make slightly mounded hills, 2 feet in diameter and 5 feet apart, sowing 5 or 6 seeds in each hill. Thin to 3 strongest plants.
Growing and Harvesting: Amend soil well with aged manure or compost. Where summers are short or cool, lay down black plastic to retain heat, and plant into holes made in plastic. Where insects are a problem, cover seedlings with floating row covers to exclude them, removing when plants blossom. Keep young vines well watered and fed, tapering off water as fruits ripen up.
Pick when little melons are fully colored, fragrant and “slip” or pull easily from the vines. With their abundant fruits, small size and sweet, deep orange flesh, Sugar Cubes are true summer treats – the whole family will enjoy these delicious personal sized melons!

These live up to their name. Sugary sweet and good producers. Grew ours in Houston, Texas and got a wonderful harvest. Can't wait to plant again next year.
