Planting & Care

Planting & Growing: In early spring, start indoors about 2 months before night temperatures stay reliably above 50-55°F. Sow seeds 1/4" deep and 1" apart in a container of seed starting mix. Keep moist but not soggy, and very warm 80-85°F. Provide a strong light source until seedlings are ready to plant outside. When seedlings are 2" tall, transplant into deeper individual containers. Maintain at 70-75°F. Feed with half strength fertilizer every week until weather is warm enough to gradually acclimate seedlings to outdoor conditions. Transplant 2' apart into rich soil in full sun.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest when chiles have a high gloss and are ripened to rich deep red. Very spicy, good for chile sauce, salsa, or drying and making chile flakes.

Germination

So far so good for germination. All 39 seeds germinated, and are now baby seedlings. Even way up north here in Edmonton, AB. I’ll keep you posted as time progresses.
