Peaceful Valley Roadway Mix - Nitrocoated Seed (lb)
Good Mix for Erosion Control
Evergreen turf and clover mix. This durable blend was developed for farm roadways, ditchbanks, and other areas where erosion control, dust suppression, traction, beneficial insect habitat, and long-term durability are priorities. It forms a dense, low-growing sod that can tolerate frequent foot and equipment traffic once established, even under wet soil conditions.
Designed to prevent compaction and erosion, this mix requires only occasional mowing (1–3 times annually). The clovers provide nectar and pollen for beneficial insects, while the turf-type grasses create a resilient, tough ground cover. It is especially useful for stabilizing disturbed soils or creating living groundcover in high-use areas.
Important: This mix contains turf-type fescues that produce endophytes, which are toxic to livestock and horses. It should not be used for pastures or grazing areas.
- Application Rate: Broadcast 1–2 lb/1,000 sq ft or 40–50 lb/acre, covering seed shallowly
- Inoculant: None needed; seed is nitrocoated
- Germination: 5–10 days
- Plant Height: 8–12"
- Uses: Ditchbanks, erosion control, farm roadways, beneficial insect habitat
- Facts to Note: Performs well in areas where dogs run and play. Best planted spring through fall in locations that can be irrigated during germination and dry periods.
Contains: Dwarf Turf-Type Fescue, Tough Turf-Type Fescue, White Clover, Strawberry Clover (specialized coating), Kentucky Bluegrass
Did You Know? Endophytes in turf-type fescues improve stress tolerance and durability but make the grasses unsuitable for grazing animals.
Note to Certified Organic Growers from Manufacturer: Nitro-coated seed is conventionally grown seed that has had an organically accepted seed coating applied to it. The seed itself is conventionally grown, non-GMO, and untreated (no fungicides or insecticide seed treatment applied) prior to coating. The seed coat consists of certified organic powdered limestone, an organically approved binder (glue), and peat peat-based inoculant that is also OMRI-approved and organically accepted. The seed coating is applied in a OMRI-approved process in a separate treatment line that only produces Nitro-coated seeds.

Coming up in the area that always get runoff and tons of weeds! Like it so far. I'm also going to blend it with a grass mix for our small orchard.
Seeds germinated well and the seedlings look healthy. Not sure if they can survive the deathly clay mud backyard of my rental, but they did germinate. Hoping for the best. Peaceful Valley cover crop seeds have been great—I’ve tried many. Daikon cover crop seed is awesome. Can’t go wrong with that.
We live on the tailings of an old copper mine and thought we would never have any groundcover let alone a lawn! Roadway mix mix gave us a beautiful green area popular with our chickens, the local deer, wild turkeys and birds.
Looks good so far. Jus waiting for it to term at this point, or else I’d give 5 stars
Germinated quickly
