Root Guard Speed Basket 1 gal (4/pk)

Root Guard 1-Gallon Speed Baskets are semi-formed, pre-rolled barriers made from flexible knitted stainless-steel mesh. The four-pack is designed for small new plantings threatened by gophers, moles, or voles. Each basket forms to approximately 6 inches in diameter by 11.4 inches tall, with about 6 inches intended below grade. A centering ring helps align the plant, while the extra mesh can be secured near the stem for additional surface-level protection.

Unroll and shape the basket before preparing the hole. Place it so the buried portion surrounds the root zone without bunching, then center the plant at the proper crown depth. Backfill through and around the knitted mesh, maintaining even support so roots are not compressed. Bring the longer upper section around the plant only as directed and fasten it with suitable ground staples or plant ties without constricting the stem. Recheck the tie as the plant grows and loosen or remove anything that could girdle it. Water thoroughly after installation and inspect the site for soil settlement, exposed gaps, or burrowing beside the protected area.
