Planting & Care
Planting & Care
Soil and Water: Plant in well drained, fertile soil with lots of organic matter. Water regularly but too much can cause bottom rot problem found in lettuce.
Planting and Growing: Sow seeds in flats and set out in about 3-4 weeks in the spring or direct sow in the fall.
Harvesting and Storage: Harvest when heads are somewhat firm and about 10" tall. In fall, heads tend to hold better. In the cool of the morning, cut heads with a sharp knife at the base. Can be refrigerated for about 3-4 weeks.
